Since it’s renovation in 2012, the Oak Bay Beach Hotel has become the perfect place for
an all-day staycation. Enjoy one of their many luxurious spa treatments while overlooking the Juan de Fuca Straight. Best of all, with any one-hour spa service, you gain access to the beautiful ocean-front mineral pools. This serene spot is perfect for a romantic getaway or a much needed girls’ day.
Pitch and Put at Henderson Recreation Centre
Victoria has so many great golf courses to choose from, but sometimes you may only have an hour to sneak away from the daily hustle. Nestled into a perfect wooded setting, the short course beside the Henderson Rec Centre is a relaxed and fun place to unwind. If you are a novice, not to worry, this course is as casual as they come. Just make sure that your date helps with your swing! No booking is needed and you don’t need to worry about a dress code.
Channel your inner child at the Oak Bay Marina
For many of us, a visit to the Oak Bay Marina brings up many fond childhood memories. Luckily, the marina has retained its charm and is a great place for an afternoon date. Feed the adorable local seals, grab a sandwich from the coffee shop, and have a seat on the rocks overlooking the coastline. Some things never grow old!
Picnic in the parks
A romantic picnic is one of the most classic dates and Oak Bay is the perfect neighbourhood to keep it simple. Stop in at Charelli’s on Foul Bay to pick up a picnic that will rival any meal out. They have an amazing take-out menu including sandwiches, imported cheeses, and tapenades; they will even help put together the perfect picnic platter. Then we suggest heading down to one of Oak Bay’s beautiful, quiet gardens that will feel like you’ve taken a step back in time. Try the Oak Bay Native Plant Garden or the Oak Bay Rose Garden for a perfect picnic locale.
Oak Bay Shoreline Tour
Take advantage of the glorious weather by taking a tandem kayak tour of the local shoreline. The Oak Bay Marina hosts a three-hour tour of the nearby islets that will give you access to the impressive local wildlife while getting a great work-out. Once you have worked up an appetite, head up to the Marina Restaurant for some of their delicious sushi and cocktails.
